ABOUT

Learning to Lead is a national non profit education organization that has educated over 8,000 individuals since it began in 2005.  Learning to Lead is known for its expertise in helping youth and adults discover their talents and enhance their skills to make a positive difference. 
Beth Mooney
Founder, Director

 

Energetic, creative, and able to motivate others are words often used to describe Learning to Lead Founder, Beth Mooney.  In 2005, Beth Mooney founded Learning to Lead with the passion to help others reach their full potential by developing key life and leadership skills.  In the past 9 years, Learning to Lead has interacted and worked with over 20,000 individuals. Beth's ability to create engaging programming and her approachability allow her to quickly connect with others to help them achieve success.

 

Prior to starting Learning to Lead, a national 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Beth worked in leadership roles both in Fortune 500 companies and in Higher Education.  Beth graduated from Bucknell University with degrees in economics and education.  She received her Masters Degree in Education from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Beth resides in Chester County with her husband and three children.  They enjoy traveling and fitness activities as a family.

Lisa Mackell, PT, is the Founder of the Theraplay Family of Companies, providers of children’s physical, occupational and speech therapy and special education services in PA, DE, NJ and VA. Lisa graduated from University of the Sciences in 1988 and founded Theraplay, Inc. in 1991. Lisa is very active regionally and nationally with the physical therapy associations.  Lisa has spoken on topics including staff motivation, customer service, parenting, child development and human resources. Lisa has also provided inservices at high schools and teenage camps on career development, leadership and goal setting. Lisa is also a volunteer with CASA, court appointed special advocates, continuing her passion to help children.  Lisa is board President of Learning to Lead, a non-profit corporation that teaches youth to be inspiring leaders. Lisa is happily married to her husband Steve, who is the Chief Operating Office at Theraplay, Inc.  They are the proud parents of two children.    

John Meyer is a marketing professional, investor, writer, and political strategist. John believes that human relationships are the key to achieving excellence. He values art, preserving iconic institutions and investing in sustainable brands.John Meyer is currently Director of Contributions and Plan Management (Office of the State Treasurer, Delaware). John is a creative marketing and finance professional that looks for collaborative ways to help spread a message about brands, products and causes. Degree: John holds a bachelors degree (History) from Loyola University Maryland John spends his free time in the entrepreneurial community serving on the board of advisors for several local small businesses.  In his free time, John spends time with his family and enjoys reading, baseball and travel. Chris Baeza

Chris Baeza is a Professor in the Design & Merchandising program at Drexel University. Ms. Baeza has had an extensive 20 plus year career as an accomplished design and merchandising executive with proven results working with iconic global brands. Her background in branding, product merchandising, design and product development brings real-world experience to the classroom. Chris is a dynamic educator who provides opportunities to expand student’s learning with experiential and inter-disciplinary course work along with international study tours.  She has a passion for ethical fashion and “for benefit” business models which inform her teaching philosophy where she strives to spark engagement for learning and developing one’s character; to demonstrate the importance of relationships and collaboration; to ignite a sense of meaning and purpose and to create a classroom environment which fosters a strong work ethic.

Maureen Gorman

Board Member

Maureen Gorman is a Managing Director at Marsh serving as a senior client advisor in Marsh’s Financial and Professional Practice (FINPRO).  She also serves as Marsh FINRPO’s Center of Influence (COI) Leader. Throughout her 30+ years in the insurance industry Maureen has successfully focused on developing value-added risk management programs for clients.  She received the 2019 Distinguished Alumna, Business and Entrepreneurial Award from the University of St. Joseph. She also received a 2020 Power Broker Award from Risk & Insurance Magazine.  Maureen has been involved with Learning to Lead for over a decade.  She first got involved by bringing the Girls Take Charge program to Connecticut, where she resides in addition to New York City.    Maureen received her BA in economics from St. Joseph University and her MS of management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  She is an avid traveler and exercise enthusiast.

Meghan Mogan

Board Member

Meghan Mogan is the Director of Academic Advising and Student Services at Boston University’s Questrom School of Business.  She oversees all aspects of the academic advising program within the Undergraduate Academic & Career Development Center.  Meghan is dedicated to empowering students to achieve success.  Prior to her current role, Meghan served as the Director of Academic Advising in the Clay Center for Student Services at the Villanova University School of Business.  Meghan has served as a volunteer in Learning to Lead Programs for over 12 years.  Meghan earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University as well as a Master of Science in Human Organization Science. Meghan currently resides in Newton, Massachusetts with her husband and three sons, and in her free time can be found reading, running or watching her kids play basketball.

Maribeth Minella, Esq.

Board Member

Maribeth Minella is Vice President, Commercial and Technology at Wheels Up.  She began her legal career at Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP (Wilmington, Delaware). Maribeth’s primary practice areas were employment law, complex civil ligation, commercial litigation, and corporate bankruptcy. She maintains membership with the Pennsylvania and Delaware bars and is a graduate of Boston University (J.D.), Northeastern University (M.S.) and Lafayette College (B.A.). Maribeth is a native of Chester County, Pennsylvania who is active in civic and charitable pursuits. Maribeth resides in Chester County with her husband and three active children.

Colin Mooney

Board Member

Colin Mooney is a Marketing Professional and works in Loyalty Marketing in the insurance industry.  He specializes in enhancing customer loyalty, experiences and enhancing business relationships.  Colin previously worked at other financial institutions in a variety of leadership roles.  Colin received is MBA from Widener University and his undergraduate degree in Finance from Loyola University in Maryland.  Colin is active in his community and volunteers in many ways.  He serves as a basketball coach for both the boys' and girls' teams for the Great Valley Basketball League.  He has also coached baseball, volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels and many other charitable causes.  Colin resides in Chester County, PA with his wife and three children.
